DC Unclaimed Property

If your primary business location is Washington, DC, you are required to report stale accounts payable checks that are more than 3 years old.  You also must report uncashed paychecks that are more than 1 year old.

Note that if you can reach the payee of the check, you can void the stale check and reissue it.  Checks should be reported to Unclaimed Property if the payee cannot be located.
